La Moure, ND Business Section Fire, Aug 1894
LA MOURE IN ASHES.
BUSINESS PORTION OF THE NORTH DAKOTA TOWN DESTROYED.
La Moure, N.D., Aug. 4. -- Fire broke out at 11:30 p.m. in the boot and shoe store of A. Hagerman and spread to A. S. Howe's hardware store. The strong northwest wind fanning the flames soon put them beyond control and having no fire protection the city is now a smoldering mass of ruins.
About 40 buildings burned, covering four blocks, and the total loss will be about $75,000, with less than $40,000 insurance.
Among the buildings burned was the La Moure County courthouse.
