Head In Fatal Trap.

Portal, N. D., Dec. 26. – Garfield SMITH, aged 26 years, a Soo line fireman, was instantly killed in the Canadian Pacific yards here while watching his engine at work. He had his head between the connecting rod and the governor crank of the engine when a string of freight cars was bumped into the locomotive by a switch engine, moving the engine just enough to catch his head and crush him to death instantly. He is survived by a family at Moose Jaw, Sask.
