Train Ditched Engineer Dead.

Asheville, N. C. August 25.--Southern railway freight train No. 63 was ditched by a washout between Saluda and Flat Rock at 8:30 tonight. Details are meager, telegraphic and telephonic communication being difficult, owing to damage done to wires by heavy storms of yesterday and Sunday. Fireman W. H. Phillips, of Hendersonville, is reported seriously injured. A wrecking train has left here for Saluda.

The lifeless body of Engineer London was found beneath the wreck of his train at 11:40 o’clock tonight. The deceased was 38 years old and leaves a widow and two children.
