PRIVATE PLANE CRASH PROBED; COUPLE KILLED.
Hendersonville, N.C. (AP) -- Federal Aviation Agency investigators today sought the cause of the crash of a light, twin-engine plane which killed a Roslyn, N.Y., couple near here Wednesday.
The dead were identified as AUGUST W. OSWOLD, 49, and his wife, MRS. MARY JANE OSWOLD, 51. OSWOLD owned a taxi fleet in the Bronx, New York City.
They were en route from Tulsa, Okla., to Charlotte to visit MRS. CLINTON RUTH, MRS. OSWOLD'S sister. MRS. RUTH rushed here when notified of the accident.
The plane apparently flew into the west side of fog-shrouded Sugarloaf Mountain at the 3,500 elevation at about 2:30 p.m.
CHARLES HUNTLEY of Star Route Edneyville told the State Highway Patrol he heard the plane fly over with its engines running steadily. A few seconds he said he heard it crash.
MRS. OSWOLD was thrown from the cockpit. OSWOLD remained in the plane. Their bodies were brought out about 6 p.m.
