6 KILLED IN CRASH OF PLANE.

Winston - Salem, N.C. (UPI) -- Six persons were killed Saturday when a private plane crashed in a wooded field near three homes about 14 miles northwest of this tobacco city.
No one in any of the houses was injured, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office reported.
The victims were identified as:
CARL KURBIJUN, of Roanoke, Va., the owner and pilot of the plane.
I. E. CRAIG, 40.
HATTIE CRAIG, 42, his wife.
DOUGLAS EDWARD CRAIG, 4, their son.
All of nearby Pfafftown.
ROBERT L. COMPTON, 23, of Kannapolis.
LEWIS E. DUNCAN, 23, of Winston - Salem.
W. T. SAPP, a witness to the crash said the twin- engine Piper Navajo plane circled the area a few times before plunging to the ground. Finally, it
"nosed over and came down," he said.
"It spun like an auger," said AUSTIN CECIL, another witness.
The plane crashed in the Doshier community, near state Route 67.
The entire mid-portion of the plane, including the passengers' cabin, burned.
Officials removed the charred bodies and took them to a Winston - Salem hospital. A witness said the bodies appeared to have been strapped in their seats.
The crash occurred at about 12:16 p.m.
