Gloversville, NY House Fire Kills Six, Oct 1907
SIX OF FAMILY DIE IN FIRE.
FATHER LOSES LIFE IN ATTEMPT TO RESCUE HIS FIVE DAUGHTERS.
MOTHER, WITH TWO SMALL SONS, ESCAPES FROM BURNING GLOVERSVILLE, N. Y., HOME.
DEFECTIVE CHIMNEY BLAMED.
Gloversville, N. Y., Oct. 13. -- Six members of the family of SOLOMON FRANK a glove cutter -- the father and five daughters -- were suffocated by smoke when their home was destroyed by fire early to-day. The dead are:
SOLOMON FRANK, aged forty years.
SARAH FRANK, aged twenty-one years.
DORA FRANK, aged nineteen years.
ROSA FRANK, aged seventeen years.
MINNIE FRANK, aged twelve years.
MARY FRANK, aged ten years.
The father lost his life in endeavoring to save his children following the discovery of the flames by the mother, who with two small sons made their escape. The bodies of the other victims were found by the firemen. All had evidently made an effort to reach the windows.
The oldest daughter, SARAH, was to have become a bride early in December and last night there was a social gathering at the home of the family in celebration of the approaching nuptials.
The gathering broke up about 1 o'clock, and at 1:30 when all had retired the fire was discovered. The origin is unknown, though it is believed to have been due to a defective chimney.

I was quite taken back upon reading this article.
Soloman Frank is my paternal great grandfather. He is my father's father's father. And these were the names of my great aunts who all died on that tragic day. This article has inspired me to find some way to honor their memory.
Thank you,
Michael Frank
