Fort William Henry Hotel Is Destroyed with $250,000 Loss.

LAKE GEORGE, N. Y., June 24.---The main building of the Fort William Henry Hotel at Lake George, owned by the Delaware and Hudson Company, was destroyed by fire early this morning, entailing a loss estimated at $250,000, and covered by about $150,000 insurance. Fortunately, there were no guests in the hotel, which was to be opened for the season June 27. The surrounding structures were saved, the fire being confined to the main building.

The fire apparently started in the servants quarters under the dining room and spread rapidly. The building destroyed was being remodeled at a cost of $30,000.

The Fort William Henry was originally built in 1856, but since the Delaware and Hudson Company assumed control it has been extensively remodeled. The hotel accommodated about 500 guests and was handsomely furnished.

The Street Railway Association of the State was scheduled to hold its annual convention here next Tuesday and Wednesday, but owing to the fire it will meet at the Hotel Champlain at Bluff Point.

New Hotel to Replace the Fort William Henry.

LAKE GEORGE, July 3.---Out of the ruins of the Fort William Henry Hotel, which was totally destroyed by fire last week, will rise a thoroughly modern Summer resort. That has been determined by the officials of the Delaware and Hudson Company, although it will be some time before definite plans are made. The manager, J. F. :Wilson, will remain at the lake all Summer, and will occupy the large cottage on the grounds which escaped the flames. The debris will be cleared away at once and the charred trees will be removed.

Within the last eight years four hotels at the head of the lake have been burned and one torn down. The Worden is the only large hotel now left in Lake George village, and will be filled to overflowing throughout August. The Worden has excellent accommodations for automobile parties, as have also, the Hotel Marion and the Sagamore.

NEW HOTEL FOR LAKE GEORGE

The Fort William Henry to be Rebuilt at a Cost of $200,000.

LAKE GEORGE, N. Y., July 14.--C. S. Sims, General Manager of the Delaware & Hudson Railroad, spent several hours at Lake George village to-day, arranging for rebuilding the Fort William Henry Hotel, which was destroyed by fire last Summer.

The new hotel will cost approximately $200,000. Work will be started at once. It will be a fireproof structure and will cater largely to transient guests.
