Watkins Glen School Burns
Two Men Hurt; Loss Estimated at $250,000
Watkins Glen, Jan 15 (AP) -- The Watkins Glen High School burned last night with a loss estimated at $250,000. Two men were injured by falling brick and another was overcome by smoke fighting the blaze.
Fanned by a strong wind the flames got before control of the Watkins Glen firemen and aid was summoned from Montour Falls and Odessa. The combined fire forces numbered more than 100 men.
The casualties were Robert Sibman [?] of Watkins Glen and William Bell of Montour Falls bruised by falling bricks and Clarence Haliford [?], Watkins Glen overcome. The condition of none was serious.
At a late hour the fire was still raging but reported under control of the combined comrades. It was discovered early last night by a member of the [illegible] basket ball team which was practicing in the gymnasium. Overheated boilers were blamed.
