Albany, NY Railroad Accident, Sep 1851

RAILROAD ACCIDENT -- TWO MEN KILLED.
Albany, Saturday, Sept. 20.
To-night, at 6 1/2 o'clock, two men were killed on the Schenectady Railroad, about a mile and a half from this city. They were returning to town from work on the water works, when they met a freight train coming East, and the Western passenger train. Becoming bewildered, they were struck by the Eastern train, before they could get out of the way, the train passing over one of them, mangling him in a shocking manner; carrying the other fifty rods, apparently breaking every bone in his body. They were both Irishmen, named KEARNS and STACK, the former a widower, 35 years old; the latter single, 19 years old. Coroner WINNE has gone to hold inquest.
