Brooklyn, NY Train Accident, Apr 1889

Beecher's Leg Amputated.

BROOKLYN, APRIL 5.---Rev. Dr. Edward Beecher, who fell under a train and had his left leg crushed, is still at the Seney hospital. The injured leg was amputated this morning. Dr. Beecher is in good spirits, and owing to his fine constitution may recover, though to most men of 85 years the shock he has undergone would prove fatal.
