Buffalo, NY C J Hamilton Planing Mill Fire, Jan 1898
ONE OF THE LAKE CITIES
Buffalo, Jan 3 – The sash and door plant and planing mill of the C.J. Hamilton company, employing 150 men, was practically destroyed by fire last night, together with an immense amount of stock. The loss will reach $120,000, with $70,000 insurance, principally in New York companies.
A blizzard that interfered seriously with street car and railroad traffic raged here all Sunday. Snow fell heavily, and the wind blew 44 miles from the southwest. The thermometer was 20 above zero.
