Perry, NY Flood, Jun 1889
At Perry
PERRY, June 5.---High water carried away fences, bridges, crops, etc, in Castile, along the Genesee river, and swept off three quarters of an acre of land belonging to John O'Conner. A herd of forty cattle stood for two days on a small piece of land surrounded by water from six to eight feet in depth. Two children of P. W. Stocking narrowly escaped drowning by the carrying away of a small bridge over a water course near Gibsonville.
The Olean Democrat, Olean, NY 6 Jun 1889
