Racing Champion Injured as Rear Axle of Car Snaps

NEW YORK, June 28 (UP)--Mauri Rose, national A. A. A. racing champion, was badly shaken up today when his Maserati cracked up in a tune-up over the Roosevelt Raceway for Saturday's Vanderbilt cup race.

While driving over a partially wet track, Rose sped into a turn and the rear axle of his car snapped. The car bounded into the air several times, but Rose managed to retain control.

Mechanics immediately set to work to repair the car in an effort to get it in shape to qualify.
