Hoosick Falls, NY Factory Fire, Nov 1860

Great Fire.----The mowing machine factory of Walter A. Wood, at Hoosick Falls, Renssalaer County, N. Y., was destroyed by fire, Monday night, with other buildings. Loss $200,000, partially insured. The establishment employed three hundred and twenty-three hands. The fire was the work of an incendiary, and burned very fiercely, there being no engine in the village. Mr. Wood will rebuild the works at once. The light of the fire was seen in New York City, and also at Whitehall, fifty miles distant.
