Hotel Elevator Runs Wild, One Man Is Killed

New York, Aug. 25.-(AP)-An elevator in the Hotel Gotham, on Fifth Avenue, ran wild today, causing a flood and killing a man.

Andrew Dublin, assistant engineer, was repairing the car at the street level when it started upward suddenly then dropped to the bottom of the shaft, then shot to the top, crashing into a water tank on the roof. Water poured into the lobby and cellar. Dublin’s body was found at the bottom of the shaft half submerged.
