Business Portion of Anglica, N. Y., Destroyed by Fire

SYRACUSE, N. Y., May 22.----A special to the Journal from Angelica, N. Y., says: A large part of the business portion of the town burned last night. Six stores, newspaper office, barber shop, photograph gallery, two lodge rooms and Seiver's opera house were destroyed. Loss about $100,000.

Disastrous Fire in a New York Village.

ANGELICA, N. Y., May 23.----This village has been visited by the most destructive fire in the whole of its history, and as a result the largest portion of its business places are in ruins. The fire started about midnight, from what source is at present unknown, and spread rapidly. Six stores, the office of Every Week, a barber shop, Seiver's Opera House, a photograph gallery and two lodge rooms were destroyed, entailing a loss on goods and buildings estimated at $100,000.

New York Town Burned.

Wellsville, N. Y., May 22.---The town of Angelica was totally destroyed by fire this morning. Angelica, the county east of Allegheny, has a population of about 1000.

A dispatch from Angelica says that the fire started in Rumpf's clothing store shortly before midnight and threatened the destruction of the town. Citizens sent to Olean for aid, but before it arrived the fire had been extinguished. The loss is estimated at $10,000.
