Bridgehampton, NY Auto Race Wreck, May 1953
RACE DRIVER KILLED
BRIDGEHAMPTON, N. Y., (AP)--Bob Wilder, 28, of Palmer, Mass., was killed yesterday when his racing car went out of control during a practice run on the Bridgehampton road course.
Wilder served 18 months in the Air Force during World War 11 and had been racing since his discharge. He held hill climbing records at Equinox and Mt. Burke, Manchester and St. Johnsbury, Vt., and moved into national competition last year, winning the 1,200 mile endurance race at Sebring, Fla., with Sherwood Johnson of Boston.
