Buffalo, NY Fran Striker "Lone Ranger" Creator Killed, Sep 1962
FRAN STRIKER, CREATOR OF LONE RANGER, IS KILLED.
Buffalo, N.Y. -- FRAN STRIKER, whose comic-strip and radio hero, the Lone Ranger, thrilled millions of school kids, was killed Tuesday night in an automobile accident near here.
STRIKER, 58, was driving alone enroute to Buffalo when his car and another collided on Route 16. Two persons in the other car were injured.
He also created two other comic book and radio heroes, "The Green Hornet," a masked do-gooder who subdued crooks with a benign gas gun, and "Sgt. Preston of the Yukon," a Canadian Mountie.
