Elmira, NY Private Plane Crash, Aug 1952

PLANE CRASH KILLS FIVE IN NEW YORK.
Elmira, N.Y., Aug. 30 -- (AP) -- Five Pennsylvania men were killed today when a single engine plane crashed into a hillside pasture two miles south of this south-central New York city.
Chemung County sheriff's deputies said the victims were the pilot and four men who had chartered the plane for a fishing trip to Canada.
They were identified as:
ELLIOTT R. KITCHEN, of Harrisburg, the pilot.
EARL W. LYNCH, of Pottsville.
STEVE DOVIAK, of Johnstown.
CHARLES W. ROCK, of Fairfield.
RAYMOND ROSE, of Sellinsgrove.
The sheriff's office said the four passengers chartered KITCHEN'S plane yesterday for a flight from Hagerstown, Md., to Munitoulin Island in Georgian Bay, Ont. They spend last night in Williamsport, Pa., and took off today on the next leg of the trip, deputies said.
Witnesses reported the plane appeared to be attempting a landing at an airport here when it stalled, rolled over and crashed.
