Brooklyn, NY Hotel Fire, Nov 1923
HOTEL FIRE FORCES GUESTS TO FLEE.
New York, Nov. 24. -- One hundred and fifty guests were forced to flee to the street early today when fire burned out the upper four floors of the 12 story Hotel Margaret in Brooklyn. Nine persons, eight of them firemen, were injured.
The fire, one of the most spectacular in years and which illuminated lower Broadway, was brought under control after a 3 hour fight. Four alarms were sounded and water towers were summoned from Manhattan. The fire is believed to have been due to defective insulation. Police estimated damage at $75,000.
