Lordsburg, N.M., Dec. 6 (AP) -- One miner was suffocated and eight men were overcome by gas 1,300 feet underground in a copper mine south of here Wednesday.
Dead was ISABEL BEJARANO, 35, of Lordsburg.
Hospitalized were:
VICTOR GARCIA.
RAMON REMTERIA.
BEN ARMABULA.
MARCELO VARGAS.
JESUS CHAVIRRA.
RUDY ESCOBAR.
MANUEL RAMIREZ.
the mine manager, F. M. BOWMAN.
Sheriff Hugh Pace said two of the miners set off a dynamite charge in the underfround shaft just before noon. The men went to lunch and when they returned set off another small charge.
