AUTOMOBILE STRUCK BY TRAIN.

One Man Dead and Five Seriously Injured as Result of Accident.

New York, Aug. 2.---One man, was instantly killed and five seriously injured, two of whom are likely to die, when an automobile was struck by a train on the Susquehanna railroad crossing in Bogota, N. J., late tonight.

A long shed shuts off the view down the track at the crossing and the automobile was almost upon the ties before the train was seen. The engine struck the car, but did not hurl it from the track, as the train had slowed down to stop at the station, a short distance beyond the crossing. Holmes was thrown beneath the car and his body mangled.
