Gloucester, NJ Train Accident, May 1892

Run Down by a Train.
PHILADELPHIA, May 3.---Theodore T. Woodruff, a civil and mechanical engineer and a close friend of Andrew Carnegie and Senator John Sherman, was instantly killed by the Brighton express as he was crossing the tracks of the West Jersey railway at Gloucester. Mr. Woodruff was 81 years old, the president of the Woodruff Patent Midship Screw Flange Propeller company, inventor of the sleeping car, and first president of the Central Transportation company. Years ago Mr. Woodruff lived in the present abode of Senator Sherman at Mansfield, O., and was president of the First National bank in that city.
