Railroad and Other Property Damaged at Nashua, N. H.
NASHUA, N. H., April 7.---The gale struck this city with terrible force, doing much damage. The wind blew at the rate of thirty-four miles per hour. The Concord railroad, roundhouse suffered considerable damage, the brick wall of the west end being blown out and ruined. The wind twisted the heavy gilt cross and lightning rod from the spire of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, breaking it off at the base, and they fell to the roof, thence to the ground, doing heavy damage. It stripped a portion of the tin covering from the east end of the Jackson company's weaving mill. About town, fences were blown into the streets and swinging signs were wrecked. It was the severest gale in Nashua for many years.
