Portsmouth, NH Storm, Aug 1901
Killed in A storm
A disastrous windstorm passed over Portsmouth, N. H., Thursday, causing the death of two persons on Seaverin's Island and injuring half a dozen others. Those killed are:
MRS. L. M. MEALEY, New York, wife of a member of the band at the navy yard.
NOEL PEARSON, a stone cutter.
The greatest force of the wind was exerted on Seaverin's Island, where the big shed of Contractor John Pierce, who is constructing the new dry dock at the navy yard, was wrecked. Those killed and injured were in or near the shed at the time of the storm.
