PRESIDENT OF FREMONT COLLEGE DECLARES HE HAS PROOF.

CAUSED A STIR IN CHAPEL.

STATED THAT ACT OF INCENDIARISM WAS AN OUTGROWTH OF SPITE -- NEW SCIENCE HALL PROGRESSING.

Fremont, Neb., March 21. -- President W. H. Clemmons of Fremont College, caused a stir in chapel this morning by announcing to the student body that he had secured almost positive proof that a student of the school started the fire which caused a loss of $40,000 to the normal building over two years ago. President Clemmons added that the act of incendiarism was an outgrowth of spite. Later when interviewed Mr. Clemmons refused to make any further statements, declaring that the whole matter whole come before the public in due time.
The Fremont College fire was the biggest fire Fremont has had in several years. Starting at noontime while the college students were at dinner, flames spread through the building and practically ruined the second and third stories. The origin of the fire was regarded as a mystery.
