TORNADO CUTS DAMAGE SWATH

One Life and Much Property Loss Make Toll Taken by Nebraska Wind.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – Heavy property damage but few personal injuries of consequence resulted from a tornado that swept across the western residence section of Omaha Sunday evening shortly after 8 o’clock. Dundee and Clifton Hill suffered the greatest losses, many homes being unroofed and in some cases practically ruined.
It is remarkable that this twister swooped down upon the city at almost the same hour of the day of the week as the more disastrous storm of Easter Sunday, 1913, and nearly exactly six years afterward. Moreover, Sunday night’s tornado entered Omaha at exactly the same spot as did its deadlier predecessor, and in general followed the same path for a considerable distance.
Frances Micklen, 6 years old, appears on the face of early reports the only one who may die as the result of the revistitation of the tornado. The girl lies unconscious at the University of Nebraska hospital. Her back appears broken.

OMAHA AGAIN HIT BY STORM

35 Dwellings Damaged of Destroyed and Scores of Persons Injured by Tornado.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – A tornado struck and swept the western section of Omaha at 8:20 Sunday, injuring scores or persons, but none fatally so far as learned. About 35 dwellings were destroyed or damaged.
The worst of the storm visited the city between Center and Leavenworth and 49th and 56th streets. No one was injured badly.
The tornado traveled in a most peculiar manner. It would dip and lift several times within the length of a city block.
The police and firemen and many volunteer workers were on the scene a short while after the storm subsided. Wires were down and lights were out. For hours homeless persons, demoralized and dazed, wandered about the dark streets seeking information concerning their relatives and friends who could not be accounted for.

Dundee and Clifton suffered the greatest losses, many houses being unroofed, and in some cases practically ruined. Frances Micklen, six years old, appears on the face of early reports to be the only one who may die as a result of the tornado. Her back appears to be broken.
