2 ARE DEAD AS AIRPLANE FALLS.

CRAFT BASED AT ST. JOSEPH, MO.

Tecumseh, Neb. (AP) -- The bodies of a man and a woman were removed Monday night from the wreckage of a large military plane which crashed Monday afternoon four miles southwest of Tecumseh, Manager Ed Critchfield of the Tecumseh airport said.
At St. Joseph, Mo., Rosecrans Field authorities identified the plane as a bomber from their field and said two fliers were killed in the crash.
Crutchfield said the plane was not a bomber, but a C-47 cargo carrier type plane. He was not sure whether there were other victims, because the plane wreckage had dug itself into the ground. The woman, he said, may have been an Air WAC because whe was wearing a uniform.
Rain was falling at the time of the crash and the ceiling was very low, he added.
The plane fell on the John Murphy farm, in a lot close to the house, and did not burn.
Rosecrans Field officials said a military guard from St. Joseph would reach the scene in the morning and until then a guard would be maintained by Sheriff Ed Mahoney.
S. W. Thurber, editor of the Tecumseh Chieftain, said a third body was believed buried in the debris.

Nebraska State Journal Lincoln 1944-04-11

The Victims of the Crash were:
First Lt. HINTON C. DANIELS, pilot, Chattanooga, Tenn.
WASP MARIE E. SHARON, pilot, Portland, Ore.
