STRUCK BY PITCHED BALL PLAYER GOES TO HOSPITAL.

Special Correspondence of the Standard.

Drummond, May 27.---A one-sided game of baseball was played here Sunday, when the Drummond boys outplayed the team from Nimrod. The game was called in the last half of the eighth inning, when W. H. Gardner of the Drummond team was badly injured by a pitched ball, the score being 20 to 0.

Gardner is a member of the civil engineering party employed here by the railroad construction. He was at bat, when a pitched ball struck him on the cheek bone just in front of the right ear. He was taken to the hospital in Missoula.

Drummond will play the Western Montana Flouring team at Missoula next Sunday.
