JORDAN IN DANGER BY HIGH CREEK

Call W. P. A.

CREWS ARE AT WORK TO TRY TO PROTECT LITTLE TOWN

Jordan, June 23.---(AP)---Big Timber creek, swollen to flood proportions following cloudbursts west of here, tonight threatened to inundate Jordan.

Jordan, seat of Garfield county, has a population of 200. It is an inland town, 90 miles from the railroad, and the trading center of a vast ranch area.

Tonight W. P. A. crews worked hurriedly to dig drainage ditches to protect the town.

Already several homes here have been flooded.

No loss of life was reported.

The water in Big Timber creek was reported still rising tonight.

At Sand Springs, 32 miles southwest of Jordan, the Wheatcroft store was flooded and two highway bridges in the area were reported washed away.

Rancher Loses

J. W. Hilton, rancher living 15 miles east of Jordan, reported heavy flood damage to his ranch buildings.

At Cohagan, 25 miles south of Jordan, a five-room house was completely demolished. Members of the Frank Johnson family, who resided in the structure, were away from home when the water struck.
