A FIRE AT PARK COLLEGE.

Sherwood Hall, a Girls' Dormitory, One of the Buildings Destroyed.

PARKVILLE, Mo., April 24. - Sherwood hall, a large three-story frame dormitory belonging to Park college, and a large one-story frame building used as a dining room for the dormitory, burned at 10:30 o'clock this morning. The fire started in the roof from a defective flue and the buildings were entirely destroyed, although a large portion of the contents was saved.

The loss is estimated at about $7,000. The insurance is $3,000. The building was occupied by young women and furnished accomodations for about thirty, while the dining room was used by these young women and an equal number of young men students of the college.

On account of the high wind a granary belonging to the college, a quarter of a mile north of the burning buildings, was set fire by the flying embers and destroyed. Other barns and outbuildings belonging to the college in that vicinity were saved only through the efforts of the students and citizens.
