--------

FOUR KILLED IN WRECK.

Heavy Snow Delayed Express and Caused Collision.

The Hannibal accommodation on the Burlington road, due at St. Louis at 8:30 p. m., crashed into the rear end of the Denver express, which had stopped for water at Gardeene creek tank, 37 miles north of St. Louis. Four persons were killed, four seriously injured and seven badly hurt.

The express was an hour and 40 minutes late on account of the heavy snow. The last sleeper on the Denver train stood on the bridge across the creek, and when the engine of the over-due train struck it, the bridge timbers caught fire from the bursting locomotive and the structure was soon consumed. Most of the cars of the local train were also burned. A relief train was sent from here and a wrecking train was also sent out. The dead and injured were brought to St. Louis.
