St Louis, MO Horse and Buggy Accident, May 1860

Deplorable Accident---An Aged Lady Killed.
We are deeply pained to hear of the death of Mrs. Collins, wife of the venerable Capt. Mordecai Collins of Greenville township, in this county, in Missouri, on the 30th ult. About two weeks ago Mrs. Collins who was between two weeks ago Mrs. Collins, who was between sixty and seventy years of age, started on a visit to her son and daughter, residing in Clark county, Missouri. In company with her son, David Collins, in a buggy, she was on her way on Wednesday last to St. Louis, when the horse took fright and run off, turning the buggy over, and throwing Mrs. Collins out, injuring her so seriously that when her son came up she was breathing her last. The remains were brought home for interment on Thursday night.
Mrs. Collins was a most estimable lady---a good wife, a kind neighbor, and an affectionate mother. She leaves an aged husband and a large family of children to mourn their great and irreparable loss.
