Tornado Hits Paris, Mo.

A tornado passed over Paris at 7 o’clock last night, followed by a cloudburst, and did considerable damage. The main amphitheater at the fair grounds was blown over and eight young men and women, members of a picnic party, were caught in the fall. None was hurt.

The Dooley Hotel and the Arnold Hotel were badly damaged. Trees were blown down and many building unroofed. Bridges are gone and streams in Monroe county have been converted into Torrents. No loss of life has been reported. Four freight cars were blown from the track.

Arthur Voelker, son of William Voelker of this city, was at Paris last night in the storm, but was uninjured,. Mr. Voelker receiving a telegram from his son early Friday morning to that effect.
