TORNADO IN PAGE COUNTY.

Town of Elmo, Mo., on the Iowa Line is Swept by Furious Storm.

Nine Men Perish in Ruins of Masonic Temple Building.

Blanchard, May 27 – A tornado struck Elmo, eight miles west of Blanchard, on the Missouri line yesterday afternoon, destroying the town. Nine persons were killed and five injured.
A three story brick hotel was entirely destroyed. Nine bodies have been removed from the ruins of the buildings and others are believed to be buried in the debris. The names of those whose bodies have been recovered are:
C. C. CALHOUN.
CASSIUS BELL.
J. J. ALVIS.
LEONARD BRADLEY.
MILTON HUFF.
GUS HUFF.
OREN STRANGLER.
D. L. STARKER.
GEORGE PERRY.
The killed and injured were all in a store in the Masonic Temple building which was demolished. Some of the injured may die. Only a few buildings in the town are left standing.
The fate of the occupants of some of the dwellings destroyed is not known and it is feared there were more fatalities. A deluge of rain followed the tornado.
