BELATED REPORTS TODAY SHOW STORMS KILLED AT LEAST 10 YESTERDAY.

FORTY OF MORE WERE INJURED.

MISSOURI SWEPT BY TORNADOES WITH BAD RESULTS LAST NIGHT.

St. Louis, May 31. -- Reports staggering in today show tornadoes in Missouri and southern Illinois, caused the death of at least 11 persons and injury of forty or more yesterday, and early last night.

St. Louis, May 31. -- Three persons are known to be dead and more than a score injured as a result of a tornado which struck Mineral Point in Washington county Missouri this afternoon. The news was received here over long distance telephone from De Soto.
The telephone operator at Potosi, a few miles west of Mineral Point, said this afternoon that only two buildings are left in the town and that reports from Potosi are that twenty persons were killed. Wire communications with Mineral Point is cut off.
All available automobiles have gone to Mineral Point with relief parties, but thus far have been unable to get to the town.
A tornado also struck Jedberg, Mo., a small town between here and Jefferson City, according to reports at Missouri Pacific offices. Missouri Pacific wires between here and Jedberg are down.
Fears were expressed for the safety of two thousand children from all parts of Washington County who attended a Sunday School picnic being held between Hopewell and Mineral Point when the storm broke.
