Hamilton, Mo. (AP) -- An early morning tornado damaged several houses and barns and killed numerous livestock in this northwest Missouri community Sunday, but no injuries were reported.
The twister ripped through Caldwell County about 2 a.m., demolishing at least one home, collapsing several barns and cattle sheds, and overturning utility poles and trees, sheriff's deputies said.
At least 178 head of cattle were killed or crippled and 35 others were trapped when a barn collapsed on one farm, authorities said.
The tornado touched down just east of Hamilton and traveled along a two-mile path before rising.
Hamilton is about 50 miles northeast of Kansas City.
