MISS KATE BECKLEY, of Pennsylvania, internal injuries.
MRS. J. B. HUNTER, of Nevada City, Cal., suffered an injury of the spine that may cripple her for life.
WILLIAM CARTER, Litchfield, Ill., leg broken, head cut, spine injured.
HELEN LITHGO DUNCAN, London, England, internally injured and may die.

A disastrous wreck occurred on the Wabash road seven miles north of East St. Louis, near the little town of Nameoki, at 7 o'clock last night. No. 5, the vestibule fast train from Chicago, over half an hour late, leaped the track while upon a 6-foot embankment and hurled its five coaches, baggage and buffet car into the ditch. The train was peopled with nearly 200 passengers from the World's Fair, and as she landed at the bottom of the incline four of the coaches caught aflame and lit up the scene of horror.

Though scores of the unfortunates were pinned beneath the heavy timbers of the cars, or were hurled healong[sic] from end to end of the coaches with weighty satchels, boxes and other movable articles carried as baggage, not a person perished. Considering the magnitude of the wreck this fact makes the occurrence seem little less than a miracle.
