TWELVE DEAD; 15 INJURED AT A TURPENTINE CAMP

HATTIESBURG, Miss., April 27.---Belated reports from the territory along the logging road of J.F. Wilder, running west from Epps Station, indicate that the loss of life in that section is much larger than at first reported. At a turpentine camp between Epps and Purvis, near the road, twelve dead were found and fifteen injured.

The dead are: Mrs. Robinson and child; James Ford and child, Unknown white man, Charles Poole and child; five members of negro families.

All of the injured are negroes and it will be necessary to care for them at once where they were found, as a majority of them are in such a condition that they could not stand the 12-mile trip by wagon over the rough roads.

In the same vicinity Mrs. Maggee Nicollas, Mrs. M. T. Buckley and Mrs. Annie Cunningham, three white women, were seriously injured by falling limbs.

Eight white persons were injured at Lowlers Hill. It is impossible to reach this point in vehicles because of the impassable conditions of the roads. Relief has been sent there from Lumberton.
