Flying Instructor Loses Life in Crash
WACO, Texas, Feb. 28. (AP).---Second Lieut. PERRY W. BLAIN, 25, flying instructor at the Blackland Flying School here, was killed when his plane crashed near Vicksburg, Miss., the flying school public relations office announced.
Blain was a newspaper publisher of Shelbyville, Ill. He entered the Army Air Corps Nov.1, 1941, and took his primary training at Corsicana and his basic training at Randolph Field. He was awarded his wings after completing a course at the Lubbock Army Flying School in May, 1942.
He was graduated from the University of Illinois in June, 1938, with a B. S. degree in journalism.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Ruth Blain, and his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn R. Blain, Springfield, Mo.
