2,000 PERSONS HOMELESS.

Burned Out by a Fire in Duluth That Destroyed Fifty Dwellings.

DULUTH, Minn., May 8. - Fifty frame buildings on Minnesota Point, just above the ship canal, were burned this afternoon. An hour after the fire started 2,000 persons were homeless.

The district was populated by the poorest people in the city. The total loss is thought to be over $100,000.

Among the sufferers were fifty families of Jews, members of a colony, who were at a mass meetig praying for the success of the American Army in the war with Spain.
