FIRE AT WEST DULUTH.

Early Morning Blaze Over Wieland & Wade's Store.

The business section of West Duluth was threatened by fire early yesterday morning. At that hour fire was discovered bursting through the windows of one of the lodge rooms above Wieland & Wade's hardware store. By prompt work of the fire department the blaze was confined to one room and was under control in about an hour. The fire started in a closet in which the paraphernalia of the Odd Fellows is kept. The loss to the order is about $700. Damage to Wieland & Wade's stock by water is estimated at $1,200, and the loss to the building, which is owned by Amidon Smith, of Portland, Ore., is $500. The building and Wieland & Wade's stock is insured.

The Odd Fellows held a meeting in the hall Tuesday night but the members had departed by 11:30. The origin of the fire is unknown. During the blaze the fire hose burst in two places.
