Barnum, MN fire, Sept 1894

BARNUM BURNED.

A Small Town on the St. Paul and Duluth Wiped Out.

ST. PAUL, Sept. 5. - The town of Barnum, it is reported, has shared the fate of Hinckley and others in that neighborhood.

Details are lacking, but there seems no doubt that the whole town has been wiped from the face of the earth.

The loss of life, if any, will not be so great as in other places, because people have had the time to find place of safety.

Barnum is a town between Hinckley and Carlton, on the St. Paul and Duluth, about 10 miles south of Carlton.

The Bismarck Daily Tribune, Bismarck, ND 6 Sept 1894
