Fifty New Buildings

About 50 temporary buildings have been erected and the business life of the community is swinging back into its old channels. A few permanent structures will be started immediately but most of the buildings will serve this winter to be torn down in the spring.

The Miners State Bank and the First National Bank will rebuild substantial structures immediately upon the lots formerly occupied by their buildings. KARON brothers will put up a brick structure at Lake Street and Central Avenue and will also build a double brick structure of one story at the corner of Lake Street and Second Avenue.

P.E. DOWLING, LOUIS ROTH, JULIUS GROSSO, M. AUDA, MATT MATTZELLE and JOSEPH KARL are preparing to erect permanent fire-proof buildings at once on their lots.

TAYLOR brothers have put up a temporary structure on the rear of their lot on Lake Street and the Main Clothing company is ready for business in a frame building where their old store was located. JAMES DOWLING is in a temporary structure on the rear of his lot and PETERJOHNSON is putting up a building for his store and home on Chestnut Street. V.B. ERSPAMER is ready for business in the alley on the north side of Lake Street between First and Second, buildings are going up at the rate of six or eight a day.

Losses and Insurance

Insurance losses are being rapidly adjusted and the money enables many of the business men to put up temporary buildings and get in small stocks. The losses and insurance include the following:

The lid is on tight in Chisholm and due to the efficient work of the chief of police MADDEN there has been no attempt on the part of some of the breweries to establish saloons on the outskirts. The militia is still on duty and is keeping excellent order. Last Tuesday a brewery wagon was stopped within the city limits by the chief of police and the beer was emptied on the ground. The breweries know that the citizens have declared the lid must stay on until there is no possible danger of disorder but one or two have endeavored to evade the will of the people to their complete discomfiture.
