COOK LOSES BOTH LEGS UNDER TRAIN

Falls Beneath Wheels of Duluth & Iron Range Freight Near Sparta.

SPARTA, May 8.---Pat Hurley, said to be a cook at Gilbert, lost both legs at 7:30 o'clock this morning at Pettit, a station between Eveleth and Sparta, by being run over by a Duluth & Iron Range freight train. He was taken to the More hospital at Eveleth, where his right leg was amputated near the hip and the left leg just above the ankle. His condition this evening was favorable. Hurley is 30 years of age and single.

PATRICK HURLEY DIES.

SPARTA, May 11.---Patrick Hurley, who was run over by a Duluth & Iron Range train near Eveleth Friday night, died at the More hospital, Eveleth, and was taken to the Virginia cemetery for interment.
