Browns Valley, MN Fire, Sept 1900
FIRE AT BROWN ALLEY
A Block of Business Buildings Burned During the Night.
George Woods received a telephone message Monday from his sister, Mrs. B. J. Gilshannon, stating that fire started in one of the principal business blocks of Brown Valley about midnight and was not gotten under control until ten buildings, including one in which she was boarding, had been completely destroyed, the entire block on the north side of the main street being burned, with the exception of a brick building. The business houses burned consisted of a bank, harness shop, bicycle store and repair shop, livery stable, hardware store, drug store and confectionery store. The amount of loss could not be given.
On the Fourth of July the block of stores opposite last night's fire was burned, and the town therefore feels the later loss to be especially unfortunate.
