FOREST AND PRAIRIE FIRES.

GREAT DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

PRINCETON, Minn., Oct. 19. - Extensive forest fires have been raging for the past three weeks between this place and Bridgeman, extending east and west from Mora to within ten miles of Sauk Rapids, and destroying thousands of tons of hay, great quantities of cordwood and timber, and in many localities the heath and natural meadows is burned and for this generation destroyed.

The first loss of life occasioned by the fire was that of Mrs. Hiram Whitter, who was burned to death in the town of Greenbush. While helping the rest of the family to save their property she fell exhausted, the fire communicated to her clothes, and before assistance could be rendered she was burned to a crisp.
