Minneapolis, Minn. -- (UP) -- Two Gustavus Adolphus college students and Football Coach GEORGE MYRUM were killed and nine other students were hurt when a bus carrying the college's football team crashed into a truck near Belle Plaine, Minn., Saturday.
The accident occurred about 4 a.m. on the highway three miles north of Belle Plaine as the bus was returning the Gustavus Adolphus team to St. Peter, Minn., from a game with St. Norbert college at West de Pere, Wis.

Hits Load Of Poles.
The bus crashed into the rear of a truck laden with poles. The bus was demolished by the impact.
The dead were:
KARL OLSEN, 22, of St. Peter, a sophomore at the college and driver of the bus.
DON V. ANDERSON, 21, Washburn, Wis., a junior and center on the football team.
Injured were:
KENNETH KOWALSKY, 22, Hopkins, senior and star halfback, condition, fair.
HAROLD SPONBERG, New Richland, Minn., sophomore guard, condition not serious.
DON L. ANDERSON, St. Paul, junior end, not serious.
CARL STURNICK, ALexandria, Minn, freshman, possible skull fracture.
EDSEL JANOWSKI, LeSeuer, Minn., sophomore guard, possible skull fracture.

Had Strong Team.
OLSEN and ANDERSON died immediately after the crash, while MYRUM was brought to a Minneapolis hospital where he died late in the day.
MYRUM had built up an outstanding athletic record at Gustavus. His football teams won the state conference titles in 1935, 1936 and 1937, and tied for second place this year.
Some of the players were asleep after their strenuous game with St. Norbert, which they won, 14 to 7.
Versions of how the accident occurred differed. Some said they believed the truck had just pulled onto the highway, while others thought it had been parked on the side of the highway.
