Lower Michigan Storm, Jun 1915
ONE PERSON KILLED; DISASTROUS STORM IN LOWER MICHIGAN
DETROIT, June 18.---At least one person was killed, two others fatally injured, many were slightly hurt and thousands of dollars worth of property was destroyed today by a severe wind and electrical storm which swept over the southern and central sections of lower Michigan. The storm caused damage of varying degrees at points more than 150 miles apart.
Houses barns, outbuildings, orchards and fences were blown down and the terrific rain washed out growing crops. The greatest destruction was wrought in the vicinity of Owosso and north of Grand Rapids. Near the latter city, Charles Summel, a farmer was fatally hurt in the demolition of their dwelling. A daughter of George Duezdart in the same vicinity was fatally hurt by the collapse of the family farmhouse. Other damage was reported from Muskegon and Saginaw on the extreme western and eastern sides of the state, and from Monroe, not far from the Ohio line.
