Royal Oak, MI Tornado, Apr 1893

Royal Oak, a small town ten or twelve miles from Detroit on the Detroit, Grand Haven and Milwaukee Railroad, had a touch of the storm. Railroad men on incoming trains report that they were delayed near there by cars being blown from the tracks. Whether any other damage was suffered is not known.

Death At Royal Oak.

Houses Wrecked By the Cyclone Take Fire--Occupants Cremated.

Royal Oak, Mich., April 13.- A most destructive tornado swept over this township last evening. The storm came up from the southwest and just grazed the village proper. Nearly everything in its path was leveled to the earth. To the southwest a fire soon started and a few minutes later another blaze was seen to the north of the village. The first fire was that of the residence of CHIRSTIAN BRICK, on the town line road. The house was torn to pieces and the wreck took fire. Mr. and Mrs. BRICK and their three children were in the house at the time. The children managed to extricate themselves, but Mr. and Mrs. BRICK were burned to death.
